The game Shenmue III should have been released on August 27, but the makers have announced that this will be postponed until November 19. The game, for which money is collected via Kickstarter, comes out for the PC and PlayStation 4.
Yu Suzuki, the developer who came up with the series, reports with publisher Deep Silver that the game is almost finished, but that a delay of about three months is needed because the game still needs some refinement before it is fully completed. This is not the first delay of this project; the game originally had to be released in 2017, but was previously postponed until the end of 2018 and then to August this year .
The makers announced in November last year that a total of $ 7.18 million had been collected by then ; that was well above the set target of two million dollars. The crowdfunding campaign for Shenmue III started during the E3 in 2015.
Sega released the first Shenmue game for the Dreamcast in Japan at the end of 1999, after which it was the turn of the rest of the world a year later. Shenmue was one of the first open world games. Sega will release remasters of Shenmue I and II in August , although the company is not directly involved with Shenmue III.
Shenmue I is set in Yokosuka in Japan in the 1980s. The player takes on the role of martial artist Ryo Hazuki. He is undergoing a battle to avenge the murder of his father. The already released second part continues with that story and takes place in 1987 in Hong Kong. Shenmue III is also set in China.
