The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications has developed a draft law for financing the “nationwide interactive encyclopedic portal.” The document is posted on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The document regulates the rules for allocating state funds from the federal budget for the creation and operation of the portal. They will go to support the operation of the platform, pay for subscriptions to the necessary resources, use archival materials, develop software etc.

The provisions of the bill will apply to all legal relations arising from January 1, 2019.

According to RBC news, the former director of the Russian National Library, Alexander Wisly, called this resource the electronic equivalent of the Great Russian Encyclopedia and the domestic competitor of Wikipedia.
