Microsoft announces new Battletoads game for Xbox One

Microsoft has announced a new Battletoads game at the E3 trade show. The side-scrolling fighting game around the three human toads Rash, Zitz and Pimple appears on the Xbox One and is also available via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for the console.

With Battletoads for Xbox, developers Rare and Dlala Studios breathe new life into the 1991 game of the same name. The game then appeared for NES and Sega Mega Drive, and between 1993 and 1994 also for Sega Game Gear and the Commodore Amiga. Later the aggressive amphibians were also seen in titles such as Rare Replay, Killer Instinct and Shovel Knight.

Battletoads According to Microsoft, the new game follows the ‘old-school beat-em-up’ style of the original games, with the trio of toads once again taking on hordes of enemies. You can play alone or in co-op with three players at the same time, using special team moves.

According to Microsoft, players can expect a “new definition of the concept of retro, with tough attacks, vehicle pursuits full of contempt for death and breakthrough puzzles.”
