Nintendo showed new images of Luigi’s Mansion 3 during its Direct-stream. The third part is set in a luxury hotel that is ravaged by ghosts, which Luigi has to chase away with an improved vacuum cleaner. The game also gets an online mode.
New to this third part is Gooigi. This is a slimy version of Luigi that he can evoke himself. This slime clone can pass through fences or nails, hitting places where the player would otherwise not be able to reach. Gooigi can only withstand water less well. Gooigi can also be taken over by a second player to play the game in a co-op mode.
For the third part, Luigi has received an upgraded vacuum cleaner, with which he can, among other things, shoot away electric shocks and unblockers. With the unblocker, the plumber can also use the green cap to pick up items such as crates. With those crates he can attack enemy ghosts again.
There is also a multiplayer mode in the game, Scarescraper. In Scarescraper up to eight people have to get through procedurally generated levels. This can be done locally through co-op or via online multiplayer.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 was already announced in September last year, when only a short trailer of the game was shown. The first part of the series was released in 2002 for the Gamecube in Europe, after which it remained silent for a long time around the game. In 2013, part two for the 3DS came out. The original received a remaster for the 3DS in 2018.
