At the end of March it was announced that Facebook saved millions of passwords without any form of encryption. At the time, Facebook said tens of thousands of Instagram users had been affected.

Facebook has since announced in a new statement that the number of Instagram accounts has been increased to millions. It is not clear exactly how many users are involved.

Facebook announces that users will be informed just as with the other incidents. According to the company, there are no indications that the passwords were subsequently used or viewed.
