A press conference by Pakistani politician Shaukat Yousafzai was somewhat embarrassing this weekend. One of the employees of his social media team streamed the conference live on Facebook but forgot to turn off a filter, which cheered up the politician and his colleague with cat ears, a black nose and a pair of whiskers.
Shaukat Yousafzai is Minister of Information in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, in the north of Pakistan and he belongs to the party PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf). This weekend he gave a press conference for a few local journalists. To make the announcements accessible to everyone, the conference was also streamed live on Facebook. But unfortunately something went wrong there.
The filmer’s phone or tablet also had a cheerful filter on, whereby the men in the image were dressed one by one with cute cat ears, a black nose, red cheeks and whiskers. The special stream immediately caused hilarity in the comments under the message and screenshots were shared at lightning speed.
Only after a few minutes did the party realize that an extra dimension was given to their speech, and the filter was removed. In the end, the entire video was removed from the Facebook page of the local department of the PTI.
The party has stated in a statement that there has been a ‘human error’. They say they do everything to prevent it from happening again. In the meantime, the cat ears are being laughed at in Pakistan. Many critics find it typical of the “amateurish level” at which local politics operates.
Pakistan's ruling party shared a government live on Facebook, but accidentally added a cat filter onto it. This was the result. 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/XGtiGYo2De
