Search giant Google is going to place ads in the Discover feed, where users can read news tailored to them in the Google app or on the page to the left of the home screen. There will also be more ads in Google Assistant and on the homepage of YouTube.
The cards with advertisements appear between the regular cards with news headlines and are labeled ‘Ad’, according to images that Google has put online. That feed is the homescreen of the Google app on Android. According to the search company, which makes money with personalized online ads, advertisers can reach hundreds of millions of users with ads in the Discover feed, in the YouTube app and in Gmail.
Last year Google has already done a test with advertisements in the feed, in which furthermore mainly news items appear from well-known and less well-known websites. That test stopped again, but from sometime this year ads will reappear.
The YouTube ads appear on the home page of the app. There are also advertisements in the image search engine. The search giant is announcing the arrival of more ads on Google Marketing Live, its own event taking place this week in San Francisco.
