California is investigating sexist culture in the workplace of game developer Riot Games, who is primarily known for the League of Legends game. The Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) of the US state reports Thursday.
The state wants Riot Games to be forced by the courts to provide wage information for employees, so that an investigation can be conducted into the alleged gender discrimination.
The DFEH says it wants to investigate unequal pay, sexual harassment, sexual assault, retaliation and discrimination based on gender in selection and promotion.
At the beginning of May, two hundred employees of Riot Games put down the work to protest against the sexist culture within the company. The focus was on the two legal cases stopped by Riot Games about employee discrimination.
A clause of employees’ contracts states that cases must be resolved internally through arbitration law, which means that it is not possible to take legal action.
